Join Big Blue Door this Saturday, August 28th for an early evening under the breeze-cooled awning of Cardinal Point Winery. It’s our final Summer Story Saturdays of the summer in beautiful Afton, Virginia with true stories inspired by the theme of ‘Escape’.
We have seven wonderful storytellers, both newcomers, veterans from our classes, and returnees from our early Big Blue Door Jams. All are sharing new stories of escapes, tales of breakouts, getaways, evasions, and vanishings!

Cardinal Point offers a variety of delicious beverages and snacks and audience members are welcome to bring their own food as well!

Ryan Wender has performed in both Big Blue Door story shows and improv shows. He works in health care but his story is about child care!

Elizabeth Derby is an audience favorite from our Big Blue Door Jams in 2012 and 2013. She’s taking time away from her new baby to join us!

Anthropology professor Clare Terni is another audience favorite from our Big Blue Door Jams in 2012 and 2013.

Debra Weiss performed with us occasionally back in the day, and it’s great to have her back. She built a house in her backyard out of recycled and salvaged materials. Known as The Recycled House, it can be booked for short-term rental. Full info at https://recycled.house.

Eric Swanson is a longtime Big Blue Door improviser who shared a story in our June show. He’s back with a yarn from his nautical life.

Denise Stewart is a playwright, actor, and director who performed in Big Blue Door’s first ever story show! You may have seen her one-woman play Dirty Barbie.

Kristen Chester is a first-time ever performer with Big Blue Door! She’s Virginia born and bred, and a Charlottesville native for 16 years.
