Join Big Blue Door this Friday for First Friday Improv in our Studio 20 upstairs in McGuffey Art Center! We’ll be featuring a lineup of great storytellers with true stories inspired by the theme of ‘Fools.’ Check ’em out below:
Audience members asked to please wear masks!

Barry Blumenthal is originally from beautiful Norfolk, Virginia. He is a partially retired psychiatrist previously working at Western State Hospital. He lives in North Garden with his spouse Jan, his dog Henry, his cat Phoebe and a whole lot of plants. His 2 grandsons live in Perth Australia, as far away as you can get on the surface of the Earth from Charlottesville. A long visit is planned soon!

Heidi Shaner is a native Cvillian and now lives at Lake Monticello as a recent empty nester. She is a group exercise instructor, in home counselor, and life coach. She’s told stories at several of our Summer shows last year!

An audience favorite from the storytelling shows of Big Blue Door’s early years, Browning Porter returns!

Donald Gaylord is originally from New Jersey, but is now an Archaeologist at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, after having worked at Monticello in Charlottesville for 12 years. He has been on stage many times as a musician and actor, but this is his first time storytelling. His wife Alison and their children can attest to the fact that the theme of fools/foolishness is entirely apropos of Don’s life to date.

Mickey Kampsen is from Michigan originally but spent many many years in Los Angeles and now lives in Charlottesville. She is a life long learner and tries to enjoy it all!

Kristen Wenger is a Health Educator by day and a west coast swing dancer at night. She makes a good martini.
