Big Blue Door is on the job, with one our fall improv teams, The Living Room! This group of hilarious homemaking hosts invites you to share their comedic world!
Come into The Living Room! The Living Room features six veteran Big Blue Door improvisers sharing true stories and devising comedy scenes just for you!
Karen Riddle. Karen discovered her penchant for performing while working in 18th century costume at Colonial Williamsburg. She later funneled this interest into a career in sales. Her husband and teenage daughters are surprisingly supportive of her new found fondness for improv. You’ve seen her in Hot Tee and One Per Customer!
Ally Zedan. Ally is a Minnesota-born, 19-year Charlottesville transplant who took her first improv class to push past her comfort zone and hasn’t looked back. Offstage she’s a live music rock, metal and rap junkie with a soft spot for women rappers. She knows a good thrift find when she sees one! She last performed with One Per Customer.
Jim Hughes. Jim is a mathematician-turned-software engineer. Outside of work, Jim is an avid swing dancer and trail runner – both involving shuffling for long periods of time. He has performed with On Air, The Vortex, The Life of Marie Gaglione, and many other Big Blue Door groups.
Kristen McCleary. Kristen likes teaching and writing history, visiting the fringes of the Spanish empire, and learning Gen Zee slang from her daughter. She doesn’t get juked and feels pretty brat most of the time, bruh. She’s performed with Hot Tee and Cork Royale.
Tina LaRoche. Up to her eyeballs in nonprofit work, newcomer Tina tried out improv to reduce her list of things that terrify her. Now improv feeds her desire to bring inclusive, collaborative, team-based skills to her work. She is kept on her toes by her family (literally, they are all quite tall.) She debuted with Big Blue Door in Cork Royale this summer.
Rie Harris. Rie loves sculpting and drawing the human figure, writing poems in funny southern voices, talking to strangers, and hanging with her family and her best dog Rosie. She has performed with many Big Blue Door groups most recently Vortex and Hot Tee.
Joel Jones. Director. Joel is co-founder of Big Blue Door.
