NYC Show Cast

Check out the cast of Big Blue Door’s Days of Future Past show coming to the Magnet Theater in NYC on Friday, 10/10!

Jordan Breeding. (On Air) Jordan is a comedy writer and video producer best known for his work rebooting the Cracked YouTube channel before starting his own channel “Dr. Jordan Breeding.” He currently lives in Charlottesville with his wife and three kids. He’s been performing with Big Blue Door since the summer of 2023.

Ellie Black. (On Air) Ellie is the somewhat dry baked good you get from mixing up sarcasm, wild curiosity, a pinch of anxiety, a dash of depression, and a healthy dose of enthusiasm for the human condition. Speaking of confections, where do you get a good donut around here? Ellie is married to the most amazing muffin, Janet, and they have two buttery little croissants, Jonah and Camille. She’s been performing with Big Blue Door since the summer of 2024.

Jim Hughes. (On Air) Jim is a mathematician-turned-software engineer. Outside of work, Jim is an avid swing dancer and trail runner – both involving shuffling for long periods of time.

Alena Mackay-Smith. (On Air) Alena works in higher education by day, saving the world one FAFSA at a time. By night, she’s writing, doing standup, or spinning across the dance floor to a salsa beat. She’s always excited to be on stage with people who also think “yes and” is a valid life philosophy.

Otter Moutenot. (On Air) Otter is a carnivorous aquatic mammal who was raised in 1980s/90s suburban captivity on a diet centered around the Kids in the Hall, Kurt Vonnegut, and Mr. Bungle. He made lots of joyfully collaborative improvisational films and music in his youth, and then life got really serious and heavy like allofasudden. So now a psychotherapist by day and improviser by night, Otter gets to dive to the depths and play in the light. He’s been studying and performing with Big Blue Door since 2018.

Kat Richter. (Y3K) Kat is thrilled to be performing with Y3K! A collaborator with Big Blue Door since the 5th grade, Kat hails from Charlottesville, VA, where she currently attends 7th grade. When she’s not on stage, she enjoys dancing, playing piano, working on local film projects, and delivering surprisingly sharp sushi critiques. Kat is also actively lobbying her parents for another puppy. Her future career plans include becoming a diabolical dictator, a corporate raider, or a theater set designer—final decision pending her college acceptance letters.

Ellie Jones. (Y3K) Ellie is an eighth-grader at Peabody School. She first performed as Toto in Wizard of Oz when she was five years old and has loved theater ever since, preforming in over 30 plays and short films. Ellie most recently performed as Ms. Trunchbull in Matilda Jr. She was even interviewed for a British radio show! When not performing, Ellie loves to babysit, serves as Secretary on her student government, and works an after school job for another local theater company. She also enjoys talking with her friends and listening to Taylor Swift.

Lucy Schuyler. (Y3K) Lucy is excited to perform in the Big Apple with hometown friends. Having recently become an official teenager, Lucy stays true to herself by dancing, drawing, writing, and volunteering at a neighborhood preschool. As a dog lover, she stops all pup owners with the exuberant request, “May I pet your dog?” Most people let her, confirming her belief that kindness is alive and well.

Kim Scott. (Yearbook Prophets) Kim has a very common name, which helps her remain elusive on social media – hiding in the shadow of more famous (and infamous) Kim Scott. She claims her love of studying the human condition is fueled by curiosity, but honestly, she’s just trying to distract herself from the fact that someday, she’ll die.

Rie Harris. (Yearbook Prophets) Rie loves sculpting and drawing the human figure, writing poems in funny southern voices, talking to strangers, and hanging with her family and her best dog Rosie.

William Edmisten. (Yearbook Prophets) William is a professional software engineer and now an amateur improv performer. Originally an introvert from the DC area, William recently discovered the joy of being on stage with improv comedy.

Victoria Olson. (Yearbook Prophets) Victoria is a veteran special ed teacher, single mother and lover of belly laughs. She sees life as a comedy of errors, laughs at inappropriate times and refuses to share her good wine with gum chewers.

Joel Jones. (Yearbook Prophets) Joel is co-founder of Big Blue Door and director of all the teams you’re seeing. He once lived in New York during which time he performed with Magnet Megawatt teams King Canute and The Kicks, and performed in other groups and shows at Magnet and elsewhere including Hell Buffalo, Monopiece Theater, Black Valentines, Campfire Stories and Answer Man.
