The first Fridays of every month are McGuffey Art Center’s official art openings, featuring new monthly exhibits in the galleries all over the building, and whenever possible Big Blue Door joins the festivities with performances in our studio! The art downstairs is free and the show upstairs at 7pm is only $10! Cash or Venmo at the door.
Friday, March 6th is especially exciting! We have the first full performance by our resident winter group, The Vortex, of a form called Sleepover. From a single audience suggestion performers create a chain of characters in a town or community invented right before your eyes. It uses a unique opening, initiation pattern, and characterization for a grounded comedy experience different from any other longform improv.
But The Vortex won’t be all that Big Blue Door has on tap! We are so excited to welcome to our studio for the first time ever Billionaire Robot Dogs! You’ll recognize all these performers from many BBD 2025 teams including On Air, and Last Improv Show on Earth, plus other Big Blue Door teams going back in some cases to 2018! Now they’re off packing the houses in Goat Rodeo Comedy Company shows as a brand-new ensemble, and they’ve taken time off to visit home!
First Friday Improv and First Fridays can get crowded so park early!
