I Am KGB

Say nyet to ordinary komediya with Big Blue Door’s latest studio team, I Am KGB. This highly trained cadre of Improvniks will have you laughing like you’re on your third bottle of state-subsizdized vodka. And the lines are much shorter.

I Am KGB perform longform improv based on characters so sharp and funny, only a spy could create them. This agentsvo mixes three newcomers with four veteran Big Blue Door improvisers.

I Am KGB will be one of the opening acts at Vinegar Hill Theatre on April 26th! Plus they’ll be performing Friday, May 2nd, at McGuffey Art Center; Saturday, May 10th at Cardinal Point Winery; and Saturday, May 17th at Vinegar Hill.

Performing throughout the spring with Ladies Who Lunch, and How to Get Away With Improv.

Coached by Joel Jones.

Adrienne Wood. Veteran Adrienne is a professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Virginia, where she studies social behavior. She lives with her husband, two hounds, a cat, and a new baby. She’s performed with many Big Blue Door teams.

Lydia Cuffman. Newcomer Lydia is a data scientist who would like to remind you that correlation does not imply causation. She lives in Charlottesville with her brilliant husband, two hilarious kids, and a beloved and very snobby poodle named Peggy.

Steve Sanderson. Veteran Steve has embraced a quiet, hermit-like life on a peaceful farm with his wife and a bunch of cats—three indoors, plus four outdoor strays. He rarely leaves home, preferring to write and record music, read, hike, game, drink coffee, cheer on the Red Sox, and, of course, hang with his cats. Check out his latest tune: Without You-Spotify

Lisa Brook. Newcomer Lisa is a Charlottesville-based attorney and empty nester who turned to improv as a creative outlet and a way to shake up her routine. With her two daughters, Sophia and Chloe, grown and her cats only mildly interested in her comedic timing, she’s enjoying the challenge of thinking on her feet without a script. This is her first show with this group—and hopefully not the last.

Mel Belardi.Veteran Mel lives in Charlottesville doing learning design by day for a tech company. Her improv and sketch comedy background includes training and performing in New York and San Francisco. She went to UVA many moons ago, moved back a few years ago with her husband, and now has a 1 year old son and the best dog ever, Bixby.

Alex Berr. Newcomer Alex Berr is a comedian based in Virginia. While earning her PhD in Biomedical Engineering in Chicago, she started performing comedy and founded the sell-out science-comedy show, Uncontrolled Variables. She recently moved back to the US from London, where she was nominated for the 2023 Funny Women Award, the 2024 BBC New Comedy Awards, and performed her solo show, How to Kill a Mouse, at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe.

Caitlin Levine. Veteran Caitlin is a social worker by day and works hard to give her two cats a good life. She is a member of the Virginia Consort vocal ensemble (with a concert on May 11, 2024!). She’s been performing with Big Blue Door since the spring of 2024.
