You know what’s spectacular about Big Blue Door’s upcoming Holiday Improv Spectacular?! EVERYTHING!
For starters we’ll bring in the festive spirit with out frolicsome fivesome, our masters and mistresses of ceremonies, Joel Jones, Deborah Arenstein, Rachel Showalter, Teja Vadlamudi, Ellie Black, and Adrienne Wood! They’ll host for the evening, introducing acts, and returning at the end with their own performance.
Second, we’ll present graduates of our recent Improv I course, William Edmisten, Kim Scott, Shelley Faulkner, Lisa Ryan, and Anna Sullivan! They will warm up with a form called a Mixer introducing very short scenes in partnership with our host performers, and then they’ll reconvene for a Montage.
Third, for the first time ever on an adult stage, we have three graduates of last fall’s Middle School Improv course, Lucy, Kat, and Ellie Jones performing stories and scenes.
Just before the intermission we present Jelly Beer. They are Keaton Ray, Steve Sanderson, Mel Belardi, Sarah Adams, and Robin Hyer presenting a form called Christmas Countdown in which they will try to use twelve audience suggestions before the clock hits 8pm!
Finally, after the intermission our host performers return to present for the first time ever in Charlottesville the White Elephant. Yes, each performer will initiated a scene based on a suggestion given by another performer. If there’s time we’ll even bring Jelly Beer back to join together for a holiday cheer montage, drawing on scenes from the entire night!
