Kappa Delta Lady!

Join Big Blue Door improv this spring with two fabulous full-size ensembles performing on Fridays at McGuffey Art Center beginning Friday, April 5th!

Meet the fabulous folks of Kappa Delta Lady coached by Marjory Ruderman. They’ll be performing regularly this spring with the Brain Angels:

Caitlin Levine. Caitlin is a social worker by day and works hard to give her two cats a good life. She is a member of the Virginia Consort vocal ensemble (with a concert on May 11, 2024!). This is her first run with Big Blue Door.

Christopher ‘Otter’ Moutenot. Otter is a carnivorous aquatic mammal who was raised in 1980s/90s suburban captivity on a diet focused upon the Kids in the Hall, Kurt Vonnegut, and Mr. Bungle. He made lots of joyfully collaborative improvisational films and music in his youth, and then life got really serious and heavy like allofasudden. Improv is a return to future roots, an alchemy of depth and light, a circle coming to close, a snake eating its own ass. Ya know?

Sarah Adams. Sarah is a born and raised Virginian who works for UVA in her dream job: neuroscience research. When she’s not geeking out over brain scans, you can find her with her improv troupe, at dinner with friends, or relaxing by the river — preferably with a furry friend!

Deborah Arenstein. Deborah has performed with Big Blue Door for almost 10 years, and credits improv with keeping her adult (and fabulous) children alive. Her offstage life also includes her nonprofit consulting group, Board Whisperers, Irishdoodle Libby, kickboxing and managing her Diet Coke addiction.

Erik Swanson. Erik is a Virginia native who has been performing with Big Blue Door since 2015. Erik is chief engineer and owner of Xdot Bearing Technologies, where he focuses on bearings for machines that spin really, really fast. He feels that doing long form improv validates his early decision to never grow up.

Robin Karr. Robin is a Registered Nurse and long-time resident of Cville who relocated to the delightful town of Staunton with her plump cat, Olive. Outside of sedating patients, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, watching movies, and listening to indie music. You might also catch her (in between injuries), roller skating on the very tennis court you plan to use! This is her first performance run with Big Blue Door.

Debby Prum’s smart aleck attitude often attracted the ruffians of Smalley Elementary, who routinely chased her home. As she ran, she’d hurl clever insults their way, which only enraged them. Despite the inefficacy of her technique, she’s continued to try to use humor to survive. Check out her writing on this website.

Coach Marjory Ruderman. Marjory Ruderman is a writer who has performed with many Big Blue Door improv groups. She’s also taught classes and run Big Blue Door workshops and is currently one of our Middle School Improv instructors. Marjory was interviewed as part of WHTJ’s Charlottesville Inside Out program on Big Blue Door.
