MIDDLE SCHOOL IMPROV CAMP!

Join Big Blue Door this summer for Middle School Improv Camp, real improv training for rising 5th, 6th and 7th graders! These are 5-session camps offering comedy performance training that get kids moving in body and mind, with cooperative games, imaginative exercises, and lots of laughter to build toward a completely-improvised, team-created, class performance that will amaze family and friends! Team-taught by Joel Jones and Marjory Ruderman Monday-Friday, 10am-12pm in our upstairs studio of McGuffey Art Center!

The program explores the most joyous parts of theater, the imagination and creation (and takes a break from vying for parts or learning lines!) as kids learn the ‘long-form’ techniques for creating scenes by listening well, accepting one another’s suggestions, and created characters and scenes together. Improv gives kids amazing experience in being fully themselves while working with other kids to turn ideas and emotions into funny, lively performances! Kids learn from the inside how performance works, which demystifies the entertainment world in a healthy way, and kids gain practical experience in speaking in public in a way that feels both flexible and safe.
