Big Blue Door is thrilled to be launching a new year of our existence. We’ve been at it since 2012 which makes this the beginning of our 12th year–except that we were pretty-much shut down for one of those years–so maybe it’s our 11th year? Either way it’s the year we want to spend more time with YOU!
FALL IMPROV RUN
We’re bringing back our crew of veteran improvisers to entertain you at venues in Charlottesville and beyond with the area’s smartest, sharpest, and funniest comedy. We’re squeezing in two shows at Cardinal Point Winery before the weather turns, we’re performing in two First Friday Shows in our downtown studio, and we’ll end the fall with a return to Belmont Arts Collaborative! TRUE STORIES
We’re so excited to be performing a True Stories show at Potter’s Cider for the first time! It’s Friday, October 20th at 7pm. It’s free, and it will feature a fabulous selection of brave truth-tellers sharing stories around the theme of ‘Shocks and Surprises.’ Details and lineup soon! Want to take a class in storytelling? BARHOPPERS
The rumor is true! Barhoppers is back (almost)! We are thrilled to be working with Rapture and Offstage Theater to reboot a local theater favorite, and the place where co-directors Jen and Joel first met! Barhoppers is a collection of short comic plays set in bars to be performed in bars! It’s a great time, a great show, and our first return to scripted comedy since our second year! Stay tuned for the official announcement!
THE SEMI-INDEPENDENT!
In the winter and spring we’ll be introducing a new run of indy teams! Drawing on our experienced veteran coaches and teachers we’ll put together an awesome lineup of folks and forms like none you’ve ever seen!

WELCOME TO CHARLOTTESVILLE
Big Blue Door co-director Joel Jones will be performing a new scripted show called Welcome to Charlottesville! It’s the story of Charlottesville, it’s the story of Joel, and it’s the story of an insanely unsuccessful project we tried to pull off.
SUMMER RUN
Finally, we hope to end our year with our biggest performance series yet, featuring 3 teams in multiple locations for an extended summer run! Charlottesville has never seen anything like it!
