Janky Scamps is the longform improv comedy group that’s lovable yet rickety, sly yet fragile. Like your first boyfriend. Performing in fall 2019 starting on September 21st with Mrs Stevens’ Basement. Directed by Rachel Showalter.
Christopher ‘Otter’ Moutenot. Otter is a carnivorous aquatic mammal who was raised in 1980s/90s suburban captivity on a diet focused upon the Kids in the Hall, Kurt Vonnegut, and Mr. Bungle. He made lots of joyfully collaborative improvisational films and music in his youth, and then life got really serious and heavy like allofasudden. Improv is a return to future roots, an alchemy of depth and light, a circle coming to close, a snake eating its own ass. Ya know?
Steve Sanderson. Steve’s sense of humor is a medley of Jim Carrey, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and his Grandpa Dick. He last performed with Big Blue Door’s winter 2019 group Just Cause. Steve is a long-time musician who makes no money playing music so he figured he’d give making no money at improv a try. He also loves his three cats and they love him even more.
Sarah Adams. Sarah, a born and raised Virginian, works for UVA doing her dream job: neuroscience research. When she’s not geeking out over brain scans, you can find her with her improv troupe, at dinner with friends, or relaxing by the river — preferably with a furry friend!
Todd Kasen. Born and raised in the suburbs of New York, Todd Kasen uprooted his life to move to the greener pastures of Charlottesville in 2016. During the weekdays, Todd spends his time engineering all sorts of neat stuff, but when off the clock, he enjoys skiing, kickball, and trivia. As a lover of great innovations, Todd has a fond appreciation of lasers and traffic signs.
Dave Priest. Dave is a California native who got his start at Universal Studios Hollywood, when he was chosen as a young lad to be the kid on the bike to ride with E.T. From there he progressed to various punk bands in the Southern California area, and finally settling in Charlottesville with his Wife, Son and dog named “Winston”. Besides improv he enjoys anything about the 80’s and drinking coffee.
Erik Swanson. Erik is a native Virginian. He spent too many years attending VA Tech to be a true resident of Charlottesville, but likes it here anyhow. In real life, he helps people design rotating machinery that spins really fast. He enjoys sailing and hang gliding, but rarely gets to do either.
Keaton Ray is a personal trainer. He’s also an actor you might see performing in ads or shows on your very own teevee. He dreams of being in a horror movie. Keaton has coached and performed with many Big Blue Door teams including The Administration, Bunch, Just Cause, and Latte Farm!
