Saturday, June 30th Big Blue Door presents Fire & Smoke. Hosted by The Fire Tigers, with five poets meeting five improvisers, Fire & Smoke brings spoken word poetry and longform improv comedy in an incendiary mix!
Nauder Namaky moved to Charlottesville from Austin, Texas (although, when it’s to his advantage he seems to be from Cincinnati). When he’s not coaching, performing, and teaching improv with Big Blue Door, Nauder is working towards his PhD in Clinical Psychology at UVa.
Joel Jones is co-director of Big Blue Door. He teaches improv, storytelling, and manages Big Blue Door’s McGuffey studio, and and still enjoys performing with The Administration, as well as other Big Blue Door ensembles.
David Luzader was brought to Charlottesville when his wife came here for school. He likes wine-tasting, comic books, and his podcasts at Heck Yeah Comics and the Geek Cinema Society. He’s performed with Colorblind Astronauts, Mr Mammals, and The Bitter End.
Marjory Ruderman is a consultant and writer of humor, fiction, and public health reports. She’s performed with Mr Mammals, Colorblind Astronauts, The Living Room and Feminine Hijinks. She was one of thousands of people cheering in the stands for a pretend baseball game during the filming of the movie Bull Durham. That was thirty years ago, but she still enjoys yelling for no reason.
Keaton Ray is a personal trainer. He’s also an actor you might see performing in ads or shows on your very own teevee. He dreams of being in a horror movie. He’s performed with many Big Blue Door groups including Bunch, The Bitter End, Mr Mammal, Colorblind Astronaut and most recently The Living Room!
Spoken word meets improvised scene as five of Big Blue Door’s improvisers riff off five area poets. Hosted by the Fire Tigers!
