The Helix/Sleepover (Team Performance!)

april 2018 programmingJoin Big Blue Door this spring for an intensive performance run of The Helix and Sleepover!

fall shows and classes copy 2 The Helix is a fascinating improv form in the monoscene family that develops a show from location-based scenes. Performers create a series of unwinding scenes and characters based on audience suggestions of a location, an adjacent location, a location nearby, and a location across town. Then the performers follow the characters to discover how their lives intertwine. (For graduates of Big Blue Door’s improv program only! Performers should be available for at least four of six rehearsals including the first rehearsal.)

fall s and c The Sleepover builds strong characters and explores how they interrelate in a world of their own. It uses a unique opening and an unusual cutting style in which characters ‘pick’ their own scenes. Performers each create one character. These follow one another in a chain of interactions to build the show. (For graduates of Big Blue Door’s improv program only! Performers should be available for all rehearsals or get permission from director.)
