Improv Night Preview 1/18

jan imp nightThe third Thursday of every month is Big Blue Door Improv Night at Cville Coffee with an ever-changing roster of longform improv comedy performers and styles. For January’s Improv Night we’ll be starting the new year off right with Dish!

Dish is the show where everyone gets to complain, confess, and blow off steam. Dish is truth. Dish is comedy. Dish is everything. Except expensive: at only $5 cash with a pick-up assembly of some of Charlottesville’s best and funniest improvisers, Dish is the best entertainment deal you’ll be getting this year! Nauder Nauder Namaky moved to Charlottesville from Austin, Texas (although, when it’s to his advantage he seems to be from Cincinnati). When he’s not doing improv or playing D&D, Nauder is working towards his PhD in Clinical Psychology at UVa.

David L David Luzader was brought to Charlottesville when his wife came here for school. He likes wine-tasting, comic books, and his podcasts at Heck Yeah Comics and the Geek Cinema Society.

SAMSUNG CSC Marjory Ruderman. Marjory Ruderman is a consultant and writer of humor, fiction, and public health reports. She was one of thousands of people cheering in the stands for a pretend baseball game during the filming of the movie Bull Durham. That was thirty years ago, but she still enjoys yelling for no reason.

Brian Brian Weisbrod is an improviser best known for his role as Professional Finance/Accounting Robot.  His credits include Accounting Analyst at a now defunct electronics retailer formerly based in Richmond, Senior Accountant and Finance Manager at a local University basketball arena, and most recently Assistant Controller at a local software company.  He listens regularly to comedy podcasts especially ones on the Earwolf network.  In 2015 you can catch him playing volleyball or soccer in his spare time, performing stand up comedy at open mic nights, or most importantly performing improv all around town.

Rachel Rachel Showalter acting career began with maxing out her credit cards studying Shakespeare at the Studio Theatre in DC. After underperforming at numerous auditions, Rachel found the improv community refreshingly supportive and co-founded Bright Young Things at DC Improv. She schlepped her husband and cat to Chicago in 2007, and continued studying and performing at iO, Second City and The Annoyance Theater. She moved back to Charlottesville in 2010 to raise babies and work as a UX Designer at Crutchfield. She’s very excited to be a part of Big Blue Door!

Jessie 1 Web Sized  Jessie Conover is a law student by day and a law student on nights and weekends. She’s a newcomer to Big Blue Door and will join Feminine Hijinks for the winter run. Jessie came up through the Curious Comedy Theater in Portland, Oregon and performed in the San Diego ImPRIDE Festival with her old trio, Double Pretty. She knows some stuff about marine biology, building consensus, lit-tra-ture, and pro wrestling.
