A belated thanks to everyone for the wonderful debut of our summer true stories program last Thursday! We had a fabulous collection of stories inspired by the theme ‘Shock of the New.’
We heard stories by Jeanne Lynch, Susan Gorman, Jamie Virostko, Melissa Wender, BK Marcus, Charlie Gilliam, and Kelsey Keverline! They took us on marches, shared the tragic butchering of goats, secretly smoked cigarettes at Buddhist retreats, smuggled seeds, faced death in summer school, and faced death in real life. Special thanks to BK for hosting. Thanks to Jen Jones for working the door, and Belmont Arts Collaborative for hosting us!
We’ll be running these true stories on the second of Thursday every month through the fall, and every theme is different. Don’t miss our next true stories show when Big Blue Door returns to Belmont Arts Collaborative on Thursday, July 13th for true stories inspired by the theme of ‘Insult to Injury.’ Are you interested in storytelling? It’s not to early to sign up for out Telling True Stories class in August!
Meanwhile, don’t miss the premiere of our summer improv ensembles at Improv Night this Thursday, June 13th at Cville Coffee!
Big Blue Door will be back at Belmont Arts Collaborative the following week for a one-of-a-kind Charlottesville production. We’re teaming up with Charlottesville’s Fire Tigers for an evening of spoken word poetry and longform improv comedy. It’ll be moving. It’ll be hilarious. It’ll be like nothing you’ve seen before. The show is called Fire & Smoke! But you can call it, “What I’m doing June 22nd at 8pm!”
