Thanks Helix/Sleepover!

upright car Thanks everyone for a great finish to Big Blue Door’s winter performance run last Saturday night upstairs in McGuffey Art Center as we presented the final show of Helix and Sleepover!

health food Will May, Ryan Wender, John Lawrence, Deborah Arenstein, Max Hoecker, Larry Goldstein, and Jason Megill started the evening with the Helix. The form creates scenes in a sequence of locations suggested by audience members: a health food store, a sporting goods store next to it, a pet store down the street, and a car repair shop across town.

golf club “I try to tell everyone I know without losing friends.” We met a friend who always follows someone else’s advice, some sporting goods customers who have trouble not damaging merchandise, pet store patrons who just can’t settle for one pet, and a car repair shop won’t settle for just an oil change.

spaceship moon Shawn Hirabayashi, Nauder Namaky, Brian Weisbrod, Finn  Meghigan, Erik Swanson, Kirk Martini, and JP Riggle presented a form called Sleepover in which performers play single characters inspired by an audience suggestion of advice they’re heard recently.

tight pants Saturday the advice was “It doesn’t look that bad.” We met cult members who believe in a spaceship on the far side of the moon, brothers who let brothers buy tight pants, future cars that people ride in standing, and much more more!

improv night march Speaking of C’ville Coffee, Big Blue Door’s winter run is finished and our spring run is just around the corner, but that doesn’t mean we’d let you go the rest of the month without some fabulous longform improv comedy! The third Thursday of every month is Big Blue Door Improv Night at C’ville Coffee and March is going to be a fabulous Big Blue Door Improv Night with OK Stupid plus our two graduate Improv 2 class showcases plus it’s St Patrick’s Day! It’s going to be 90-minutes of green comic gold so don’t miss it!
