Thanks everyone for a wonderful show this past Saturday (Feb 20th) in Big Blue Door’s Studio 20 in the McGuffey Art Center featuring The Helix and Sleepover!
Our intrepid Helix ensemble (Will May, Ryan Wender, Melissa Wender, Debby Prum, John Lawrence, Deborah Arenstein, Max Hoecker, Larry Goldstein, and Jason Megill) were up first performing a set of scenes based on audience suggestions of locations: a tattoo parlor, a brothel next to it, a church down the street, and a Wal-Mart across town.
We met an incredible mix of Spirit Guides, balloon blowers, shoplifters, stoat fanciers, and more!
Next our Sleepover ensemble (Shawn Hirabayashi, Nauder Namaky, Brian Weisbrod, Finn Meghigan, and Erik Swanson) created a set based on advice they’re heard recently, in this case, “Don’t lick the flagpole!”
We met archers with skin problems, a forgetful and remorseful girlfriend, a tea enthusiast, and a tea not-so-enthusiast. We even found our way to an impromptu Maury Povich episode!
Big Blue Door’s winter run has a a been blast but now it’s coming to an end! Don’t miss our final Helix/Sleepover show this Saturday, March 5th at McGuffey Art Center Studio 20!
