Sleepover

fall s and c The Sleepover, one of Big Blue Door‘s winter performance runs, is a fascinating improv form based on building strong characters and exploring how they interrelate. It uses a unique opening and an unusual cutting style in which characters ‘pick’ their own scenes. Performers each create one character. These follow one another in a chain of interactions to build the show. (This workshop is for graduates of Big Blue Door Improv 1, Improv 2, and Improv 3 who have completed at least one Harold Run.)

The Sleepover will dig into characters and relationships using focused workshop sessions and a run of shows. The Preview performance will feature a simplified La Ronde. The other performances will feature the full Sleepover form coupled with our other winter performance style, The Helix. Many of the shows will be in our revamped McGuffey studio with sound baffling, curtains, a ‘backstage,’ music, and improved lighting. 6-8 performers.
