july Big Blue Door is back from vacation just in time to launch a late-bursting JULY like a last blast of rockets fired into the metaphorical evening! We’ve got classes, we’ve got shows, we’ve even got a new home!

harold night 3 Harold Night returns Thursday, July 16th at Cville Coffee! Featuring Big Blue Door resident summer improv ensembles Mogli Mogli de Brogli and Plan A performing the original and still most popular of longform improv style, The Harold. And this Harold Night features a bonus preview of OKStupid, Big Blue Door’s upcoming improv show produced by Brian Weisbrod and Nauder Namaky. It all starts at 7pm at Cville Coffee!


Not content to play the town alone, our intrepid improvisers hit the road to bring The Harold to the Crozet Mudhouse on Saturday, July 25th! More info soon!

IMG_2258 The Big Blue Door Jam featuring true stories has been on hiatus for much too long. It was scheduled to return in July but we’ve pushed that back to Thursday, August 13th to make room for vacation. To tide yourself over why not sign up for our summertime Telling True Stories class on Sunday afternoons starting July 19th at McGuffey Art Center!

Improv 3

We also will be launching a special summer edition of Improv 3, our advanced improv class for graduates of Improv 1 and Improv 2.

The biggest news for July is that Big Blue Door officially joins McGuffey Art Center as a renting member of Studio 20! (We were associate members last year.) We’ll be using our new studio for rehearsals, classes, and shows, plus it gives us a place for working on our planned oral histories and our book!

Last but not least, we’ll be officially launching our publishing company and raising a little money to put together the collection of stories from our Jams and Slams!
