January Wrap

jan wrap Thanks everyone for making January a great month here at Big Blue Door! It may have been cold outside but you’ve helped us start off 2014 warm and cozy!

Our third-ever Big Blue Door Slam broke all attendance records with a huge crowd and a fantastic array of stories by Miller Murray Susen, Graelyn Brashear, Yousaf Sajid, Clare Terni, Anna Jones and Chris Estey inspired by the theme ‘Schemes & Dreams.’ Plus great old-time tunes by Green Willis! Pictures by April Muniz coming soon!

We started Improv I and Telling True Stories classes at Live Arts, and an Improv 2 class at the Director’s Studio. (Next Improv classes start at Live Arts in April!)Meanwhile WTJU’s Soundboard (Monday edition) featured live recordings of stories from previous Big Blue Door Jams told by Jude Silveira, Mickey Kampsen, Graelyn Brashear, & Annie Temnick!

Special thanks this month goes to Piedmont Council for the Arts for interviewing us as part of their January “Member Profile.” You can read it here.

BTW speaking of great organizations that aren’t Big Blue Door, in February we’re partnering with the fine folks at Cville for a special Valentine Issue, which means its not you’re usual take on love, so stay tuned for that…

Thanks to everyone who has taken a class, come to a show, shared a story, worked the box office, offered us a venue, told a friend about us, or read about what we’re doing online! If you haven’t gotten involved yet, follow us here, like us on Facebook, talk to us after a show, or take a class!
