Plugs: Miss Julie & Barhoppers

JULIE+Full+poster_edited-2Plug #1: our future roommates (more on that soon) Gorilla Theater Productions are staging Strindberg’s Miss Julie this weekend and next at their new intimate digs, The Director’s Studio upstairs at 1726 Allied Lane. That’s near Circa and Cville Coffee. It’s the story of a aristocrat who hits on a servant. Things end badly. Gorilla Theater used to put on shows at Random Row Books. When that closed they opened the Director’s Studio. This is their first offering! We saw it last night and really enjoyed it!

Plug #2: Barhoppers opens this Sunday night at The Local in Belmont! A Charlottesville tradition for over twenty years, Live Arts and Offstage Theatre have teamed up to bring back “short plays set it bars and performed in bars.” Barhoppers will feature plays written by quite a few Big Blue Door storytellers, improvisers, and sketch writers. It’s incredibly fun!

Aug 4,5,6: The Local
Aug 11,12,13: Millie Joe
Aug 18,19,20: Rapture

Shows start at 7:30, NOT 8!
