June Wrap

SONY DSC Big Blue Door bids adieu to our last full month of our inaugural season! Next month we have our Big Blue Door Slam and then we’re taking the rest of the summer off.

Our June Big Blue Door Jam at Black Market Moto Saloon featured true stories inspired by the theme of ‘Nature.’ Jason Bennett, Aaron Gilley, Rosemarie Harper, Anna Jones, Liz Lowenstein, Andrea Rowland, Yousaf Sajid, and Debra Weiss presented a great assortment of true stories to a standing room only house. It was wonderful to end our first season Door Jams with a great show!

Our other June show was our first ever Sketch Show at The Bridge. Emily Bolecek, Ben Meguira, Jude Silveira, Jigsaw Jones, Amy Spence, Mickey Kampsen, Shawn Hirabayashi, and Victor Schiller in ten rehearsals over seven weeks created an entire show of smart, funny comedy inspired by life in Charlottesville and beyond. We met goddess-inspired potters, scatalogical naysayers, a balloon sculptor who refuses to make anything but guns, a soccer mom who’ll do anything to get her kids in prep school, art enthusiasts with short attention spans, a couple breaking up over the free speech wall, runners, runners, more runners, the line at the new Imax, and much more. The performers came from the Live Arts improv program so sign up for improv next year and be part of next year’s Sketch Show!

Due to the effort at getting the Sketch Show up and running we couldn’t post on this website nearly as much this month we still had over 500 individual ‘visitors’ with over 2500 ‘views’. Also if you haven’t yet, go like us right now on our facebook ‘page.’

Thanks to everyone who has been a part of Big Blue Door in June and over the past year! See you at the Big Blue Door Slam, our final event of our first season on July 18!
