Matching Energy

Here’s an interesting interview at Salon.com about speech and listening that touches on the power of what in improv we call ‘matching energy.’ Listening while mirroring the other person. When we listen this way in scenes we tend to discover a lot of imaginative ideas, while when we do scenes by ransacking around inside our own heads in a panic for something funny or meaningful, we draw a blank.

The interview is with Andrew Newberg who coauthored a book, Words Can Change Your Brain.
