A great satirical essay about the last fifty years of the book publishing industry and its future. Yes, it’s long and cynical but it’s funny-cynical, and it’s worth getting one sharp observer’s account of how things got here and where they’re going. It’s about novels, and that’s a little outside our core activities but much of it applies to the wider world of entertainment, business, non-fiction publishing and the internet. Besides, anything this well written deserves to be read.
Here the author replies to criticisms of the first piece.
Big Blue Door will have future posts (At least a Part II & III) with other perspectives, and then some babbling of our own.
